These are some videos taken during literature class, where students wrote a script for one of Don Quijote 's chapters, and acted them out for the class! It was such a fun day!
The students had two optional activities this past Sunday, June 16, which were attending catholic mass, and an excursion to the La Candamia park, in the outskirts of Leon, a place with amazing views of the city and surrounded by nature.
These are a few pictures taken during our first meal at Leon, at the local restaurant where we eat daily, called Casablanca. The students have been enjoying delicious traditional Spanish cuisine. ¡ Buen provecho!
After the student orientation, we went on a tour around downtown Leon, and got the opportunity to see, among other things, the Roman wall, Leon Cathedral, Plaza Mayor, along with other iconic places of the city. Below, the students are photographed at the Cathedral, and at the Leon sign.
Today was the first day in the classroom at the student-instructor orientation. We went over some of the rules and expectations from the program. Additionally, the students had the opportunity to ask questions about the program. We look forward to starting classes on Friday!
After a four hour ride from Madrid to Leon (plus an hour stop at a local convenience store and restaurant along the way), we made it safely to our new home for the next six weeks! The host families were extremely eager to meet the students! In the picture below, Ollin Garcia, Sarah Grauvogl, and some of the students at the back.
This is how the IUHPFL team Leon 2019 arrived in Madrid on Monday, June 11, 2019. After about eight hours of a transatlantic flight, the students, along with Israel Herrera and Sarah T., made it to Madrid-Barajas' Airport.
